Staff Nurse

NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking a skilled Staff Nurse to join our Behavioral Health team. As a Staff Nurse, you will contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing regimen for assigned patients on your unit. You will work under the direction and leadership of the Head Nurse, guided by a thorough knowledge of nursing theory, principles, and standards of quality nursing care.
Responsibilities:- Provide nursing care to assigned patients through assessment, making nursing diagnoses, developing and implementing a plan of care, and evaluating the results of nursing intervention.
- Initiate a nursing assessment and care plan upon admission, reflecting long and short-range goals, patient teaching, and a discharge plan.
- Participate in the multidisciplinary treatment plan implementation and collaborate with the Head Nurse in assigning functions to ancillary personnel.
- Administer medication as ordered and chart same according to hospital policy and professional standards.
- Counsel and/or instruct patients and/or family members on evidence-based practices and provide education on medication and treatment modalities.
- Participate in department and interdisciplinary conferences regarding policies and procedures affecting nursing practice.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in Continuing Education, in-service Staff Development, and self-directed learning.
- A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
- Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
