Role Overview

As a Nursing Supervisor, you will oversee and guide nursing and support personnel during your designated shift. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Assessing staffing requirements and making assignments based on staff availability, skills, patient census, and acuity.
  2. Providing direct patient care as necessary.
  3. Assisting staff with problem-solving by floating between units.
  4. Taking on patient assignments to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  5. Evaluating patient care effectiveness and identifying issues impacting patient outcomes.
  6. Addressing patient care complaints through established channels.
  7. Performing specific duties such as entering orders, managing admissions and discharges, and coordinating patient transfers.
  8. Ensuring staff have the necessary equipment and supplies for safe, quality care.
  9. Incorporating evidence-based practices into clinical operations.
  10. Fostering a professional growth environment for all staff.

Qualifications

Education: An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.

Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment are essential.

Certifications: New hires must possess current BLS and ACLS certifications upon hire. Staff are required to obtain PALS/ENPC within six months of employment. Additionally, new hires have ninety days from their start date to secure American Heart Association certifications, while remaining current in all required certifications as outlined in the job description.

Licenses: A current NM RN license or appropriate RN Compact licensure is necessary to begin.
