Job Title: Paraeducator

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Paraeducator to join our team at KIPP Public Schools Northern California. As a Paraeducator, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and behavioral needs of our students.

Job Summary

The Paraeducator will work under the direction of the Education Specialist to provide academic and behavioral support to students in a special education classroom, regular classroom, and other school settings. This includes assisting with instructional programs, implementing behavior intervention plans, and providing emotional support to students.

Responsibilities
  • Assist students in small groups or one-to-one assignments to reinforce or follow up learning activities in core academic, language, and/or specialized subject areas.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans, including the use of positive reinforcement strategies and behavior modification techniques.
  • Foster social interactions and develop positive relationships between students with disabilities and their non-disabled peers.
  • Model appropriate behavior and attitudes, and provide emotional support and general guidance to students.
  • Support students in accessing all aspects of the educational environment, including field trips and school assemblies.
  • Provide testing accommodations, including supervising students completing tests in a separate location or during an extended time.
  • Report suspected health problems to the appropriate school personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and classroom information in accordance with legal requirements and KIPP policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree (or minimum 48 units in process) or pass the ETS ParaPro Assessment (passing score = 460).
  • Experience working with individuals with academic, behavioral, or functional needs preferred.
  • Strong content area knowledge and skills in building relationships with students, families, and communities.
  • Proficient knowledge of Google Suite applications and ability to learn and utilize instructional technology to support in-class and distance learning.
  • Bilingual in languages that reflect our student populations preferred.
