Fitness Center Attendant

At the Rocky Mount Family YMCA, Inc., we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Gym Monitor to join our team. As a Gym Monitor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our members, participants, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure the safety of all gymnasium participants.
- Communicate the Y mission and convert program participants to Y members.
- Implement sports and recreation programming for youth and adults.
- Supervise existing programs to ensure member safety and satisfaction.
- Respond to incidents and illnesses, perform routine First Aid and CPR, and ensure proper documentation.
- Enforce gymnasium rules, including promoting good sportsmanship, monitoring attire and language, and clearly communicating prohibited activities.
- Maintain and clean basketball equipment and gymnasium closet, reporting any equipment needs to the director.
- Raise and lower basketball hoops as requested.
- Deliver snacks to the family gym as needed.
- Consistently work scheduled shifts, find substitutes in the event of absence, attend staff meetings and training, maintain certifications, and clock in/out of department correctly.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures, maintain a professional appearance, and adhere to systems and practices related to risk management and safety.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Certifications required within 30 days of hire: American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid, and training provided by the Y on Appropriate Touch, Medicare Fraud, Waste, and Abuse, Child Sexual Abuse Prevention, Managing your Risk of Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communication for Employees, Social Media & Digital Communications, Safe Lifting, Harassment Prevention, Preventing Member and Guest Slips, Trips, and Falls, and Risk Management 101.
- Ability to develop a positive, authentic relationship with people from different backgrounds and at least one year of experience.
