Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Johnson Controls. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing mechanical systems for our HVAC test facilities.
Your primary focus will be on performing detailed engineering tasks, including evaluation of engineering alternatives, analysis of data, and preparation of specifications and reports. You will work closely with engineers, suppliers, and other departments to ensure project completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop conceptual designs and cost estimates for MRP project elements during budgeting and initial project phases.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data, develop engineering computer programs, and design basic process systems, sub-systems, and components.
- Prepare final designs, including drawings, requests for quote, bills of material, and construction specifications.
- Coordinate with electrical, controls, and other disciplines to facilitate state-of-the-art designs for complete HVAC test facility projects.
- Review project designs for compliance with applicable national and local codes, engineering principles, industry best practices, company standards, and related specifications.
- Plan and conduct on-site startup, troubleshooting, adjusting, testing, and commissioning of MRP systems for all test facility projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university; master's degree or PE registration preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience with mechanical engineering design in the HVAC industry; or 6 years' work experience after the completion of a MSME degree or PE license.
- Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including ASHRAE, AHRI, UL, AMCA, ASME, ANSI, SMACNA, UBC (ICC), and others.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating environment, including email and Microsoft Office software; and AutoCAD or equivalent engineering document preparation.
- Ability to operate independently on detailed individual tasks with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to multitask and work with various stakeholders as needed.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills using English.
- Effective and professional interpersonal skills to contribute as part of internal customer service team.
