Position Overview

  • Responsible for delivering comprehensive medical care and management for patients in the emergency department and/or hospital settings, working under the guidance and oversight of a supervising physician. Nurse Practitioners adhere to the regulations outlined in the Nurse Practice Act relevant to their state of employment, while Physician Assistants follow the governing rules for their profession.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Completion of a program from an NLN accredited nursing school or equivalent; graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program is mandatory. A Master's or Doctorate degree is required for Nurse Practitioners.
  • OR
  • A Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program is essential.

Licensure and Certification Requirements

  • An active CNP license is necessary.
  • Must hold a Registered Nurse license in the State of South Dakota and/or fulfill the criteria for Multi-state licensure.
  • OR
  • Licensure as a Physician Assistant is required, along with the ability to practice in South Dakota. National Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is mandatory.
  • Additionally, Federal and State DEA certification is required for employees in South Dakota.

Work Schedule Details

  • Emergency Department/Hospitalist On-Call rotation of 1:4 during weekends, commencing at 1700 on Friday and concluding at 0800 on Monday.
  • Participation in on-call holiday rotation is expected.
