Senior Mortgage Loan Officer

The Senior Mortgage Loan Officer plays a pivotal role in originating residential mortgage loans, ensuring the creditworthiness of customers, and servicing these loans to meet or exceed the Bank's credit quality, profitability, and growth objectives. This position requires a strong ability to refer customers to the appropriate banker for the cross-sale of products and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain relationships with referral and industry sources to originate investment-quality mortgage loans, maximizing volume and income while meeting banking center profitability goals.
  • Interface with borrowers to take and document complete and accurate loan applications, determining creditworthiness by analyzing financial conditions, evaluating collateral acceptability, and assessing repayment capacity.
  • Set expectations for borrowers regarding loan approval processes and terms, communicating throughout the loan process, approval, and closing stages.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, generating referrals from both personal contacts and other bank business channels.
  • Advise applicants on available options, explain mortgage types, and negotiate loan terms and conditions.
  • Stay up-to-date with local real estate market conditions and changes in rules and regulations pertaining to private and government-insured mortgages.
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in residential construction and permanent lending with compliance training and knowledge, or equivalent. Knowledge of real estate laws and FNMA selling and servicing guidelines. Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation for making outside sales calls. Registration with the National Mortgage Licensing and Registry (NMLS) is required.
Skills:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MS Word; basic keyboarding and calculator skills; ability to perform simple math and follow written instructions.
