Position Overview:

Join our team at USIC, where we value quality and safety in every aspect of our work. As a Field Utility Technician, you will have the opportunity to work outdoors, independently, and play a crucial role in ensuring public safety.

Starting Salary: The initial pay rate is $25.00 per hour for new technicians, with potential earnings of up to $37.50 per hour for those with significant prior experience in utility locating.

Your Role:

As a Field Utility Technician, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Accurately and safely identifying underground utilities, such as telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
  • Conducting thorough searches for underground utilities in designated areas, marking their locations, completing necessary documentation, and capturing photographic evidence of each locate.

This is a full-time position with daytime hours, and overtime may be required. We typically operate with a 48-hour turnaround time for most locates, which may include working the day after holidays and some weekends as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions; previous outdoor experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in computer usage.
  • Availability for overtime and weekend work as needed.
  • Ability to pass a drug screening (this position is safety-sensitive).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Capability to work in confined spaces and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Able to distinguish colors used for wiring and marking underground utilities.
  • Ability to read and understand locate tickets, maps, and prints.
