Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily physical and emotional care to patients, including bathing, toileting, feeding, and ambulating.
- Respond to patient call lights in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist licensed personnel as directed, ensuring seamless care delivery.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including vital signs and other relevant information.
- Contribute to a safe and clean environment by adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining a tidy patient room and utility area.
- Recognize and report any changes in patient condition to licensed personnel, ensuring prompt intervention.
- Transport patients as needed, prioritizing their comfort and safety.
- Participate in interdisciplinary healthcare team meetings, providing valuable insights and input.
- Act as a preceptor to new Nurse Assistants, sharing knowledge and expertise to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
- Employ proper body mechanics to prevent injury and maintain a healthy work environment.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and management, addressing any concerns or issues in a timely manner.
Working Conditions:
This role requires manual dexterity, significant occupational risk, and very heavy physical effort, with the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force. The work environment is fast-paced, with exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and human waste.
Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
- Nursing home or acute care experience preferred.
