Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, appetite, and authority through collaborative account management and audits.
  • Work closely with leadership to identify training requirements and develop comprehensive plans to address them.
  • Mentor and guide the underwriting team to enhance quality and expertise in underwriting practices.
  • Design and deliver training programs for underwriters within the Commercial Transportation sector.
  • Collaborate with departments such as Product, Actuarial, Claims, Regulatory, Risk Control, and IT to ensure product compliance and competitiveness.
  • Support staff development through coaching, leading change initiatives, and fostering a motivating work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal standards.
  • Contribute to the creation of pricing models tailored for various commercial lines.
  • Assist in the placement and monitoring of reinsurance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:

  • Bachelor's degree with 12 years of relevant experience or equivalent experience of 16 years.
  • In-depth knowledge of various coverages and lines of business.
  • Familiarity with underwriting guidelines and industry standards.
  • Strong risk assessment capabilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial reporting.
  • Expertise in policy development, problem-solving, and market analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of the insurance sector, including regulations and compliance.
  • Advanced skills in making underwriting decisions.
  • Ability to lead a team in consistent decision-making based on effective risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of loss development and advanced loss analysis for optimal risk pricing.
  • Strong mathematical skills and excellent communication abilities.
  • Sound judgment in underwriting and leadership decisions.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring future visa sponsorship.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree.
  • Specialized underwriting knowledge in moving, storage, and long-haul trucking.
