Position: Subsurface Engineering Specialist
We are looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Subsurface Engineering Specialist to become a vital part of our organization. This role involves executing subsurface investigations, evaluating soil characteristics, and delivering engineering insights to facilitate the design and execution of diverse construction and civil engineering initiatives. The successful candidate will possess a solid grounding in subsurface engineering concepts, exceptional analytical capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Core Responsibilities:
- Site Evaluation and Analysis: Carry out subsurface investigations, which include soil sampling, field assessments, and geophysical evaluations, to understand underground conditions and identify potential geotechnical challenges.
- Geotechnical Assessment: Conduct geotechnical assessments and interpretation of both field and laboratory results to evaluate slope stability, load-bearing capacity, settlement, lateral earth pressures, and groundwater conditions utilizing recognized software and methodologies.
- Foundation Recommendations: Offer geotechnical guidance for foundation solutions, encompassing shallow and deep foundations, ground enhancement methods, and retaining structures, ensuring structural integrity and functionality across various soil and rock environments.
- Excavation and Earthwork Design: Develop designs for excavation and earthwork support systems, including retaining walls, shoring solutions, and slope stabilization strategies, to alleviate geotechnical risks and promote safe construction practices.
- Technical Documentation: Generate detailed geotechnical reports, engineering calculations, and design documentation that encapsulate site evaluations, analyses, findings, and recommendations for both internal review and client presentation.
- Collaboration and Client Engagement: Work closely with project stakeholders, such as clients, architects, structural engineers, and regulatory bodies, to address geotechnical issues, provide expert advice, and ensure effective communication and decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure.
- A minimum of 8-20+ years of experience in subsurface engineering, site evaluation, and foundation recommendations.
- Expertise in geotechnical analysis software.
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics and subsurface engineering principles.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to articulate complex technical ideas to varied audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize responsibilities, and adhere to deadlines.
