Job Title: Environmental, Safety Specialist

We are seeking an Environmental, Safety Specialist to join our team at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that work is conducted safely and in accordance with applicable requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply safety and health requirements through surveillance of work and audits of compliance posture and efforts.
  • Work with the Quality and Safety Oversight team to ensure that work is conducted safely and in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Interact with Naval Nuclear Laboratory management and peers, as well as project Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management contractor and construction subcontractors.
  • Clarify existing policies, procedures, requirements, and program standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a technical, engineering or science related field and 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a technical, engineering or science related field and 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part II qualified.
  • Qualified SIT and 3 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program.
  • Currently or previously CRE qualified.
  • 6 years as SRE.
Preferred Skills:
  • ASP, CSP or equivalent certification.
  • Solid understanding of safety awareness and improvement strategies.
  • Ability to understand trend in data relating to injury/illness.
