Position Overview

The role involves executing high-level mechanical and electrical maintenance on gasoline, propane, and diesel engines, as well as heavy-duty off-road machinery. As a senior mechanic, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing trucks and heavy construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily refueling and maintenance of construction machinery at various project sites.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on all vehicles and construction equipment.
  • Perform state or pre-state safety inspections as required.
  • Execute diagnostic testing and evaluation procedures to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
  • May supervise and mentor junior mechanics or assistants, providing guidance on proper procedures and practices.
  • Test machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Transport equipment as necessary.
  • Respond to road calls and perform field repairs when needed.
  • Order parts and supplies as required for repairs.
  • Design and fabricate specialized projects for vehicles and equipment.
  • Carry out additional related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Important: Completion of the work history and education sections of the application is mandatory to demonstrate the required experience and education.

  • High school diploma or GED. (An additional four (4) years of relevant experience may substitute for a high school diploma).
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a full-time mechanic is required, with a preference for diesel mechanics and heavy truck/off-road experience.
  • A valid Class C driver’s license is required upon hire.
  • A Class A CDL with a combination tanker and hazmat endorsement must be obtained within eight (8) months of hire.
  • Certification in specific trades or training, such as A/C or ASE coursework, may be required.
  • Vehicle Inspection License and Welder Certification are preferred.
  • Experience with Controlled Area Network (CAN) systems is preferred.
  • Additional technician certifications and licenses are preferred.
  • Must possess the ability to repair complex off-road construction equipment, with specialty certifications and licenses being preferred.

Note: The selected candidate must successfully complete a pre-placement physical examination and drug screening. Proof of educational attainment must be provided during the new hire processing.
