Job Title: Community Social Worker

At Mercy Housing & Shelter Corp, we are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Community Social Worker to join our team. As a Community Social Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the mission of our organization, which is committed to ending homelessness and empowering women, families, and others in Greater Hartford.

The Community Social Worker will work closely with our clients to help them achieve independence and stability in their communities by providing housing and supportive services. This role requires a strong understanding of the complexities of homelessness and a passion for working with individuals and families to overcome challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and participate in monthly RUUM meetings with the clinical team.
  • Provide comprehensive planning and active support for the care, treatment, and safety of our clients.
  • Assist clients with the development of individual plans and goals and provide support for achievement.
  • Teach clients and motivate the performance of independent living skills.
  • Assist clients with securing a job or vocational program placement.
  • Mediate client disagreements and provide crisis interventions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college/university or two-three years' related experience and/or training.
  • Bi-lingual, Spanish/English encouraged.
  • Valid Connecticut driver's license and clean driving record with proof of automobile insurance.

Benefits:

  • $23-$25 per hour, based on experience.
