Job Summary

The University of Iowa is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Custodial Services Supervisor to join our team at the Iowa River Landing Clinic. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the work activities of custodial staff to ensure a safe, clean, and healthy environment for patients, guests, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Supervision: Provide guidance and oversight to custodial staff, including assigning daily work activities, inspecting and monitoring quality of work, and scheduling and coordinating work activities.
  • Training and Development: Develop and conduct formal training sessions to improve employee knowledge and skills, and provide on-the-job training and orientation to new employees.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect assigned areas and complete appropriate inspection reports to ensure compliance with established guidelines and standards.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to patients, guests, visitors, and staff, and respond to customer complaints and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with team members, management, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and execution of custodial services.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Two years of custodial experience or related building and facilities maintenance, and a minimum of 6 months of supervisory experience.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Knowledge of hospital equipment and supplies, infection control protocols and isolation guidelines, experience cleaning equipment, customer service and working with the public, and basic to intermediate computer skills.
