Job Overview

As a key member of our team at Aspen Heights, the Recreation Activities Coordinator is responsible for developing and overseeing a comprehensive activities program tailored to meet the diverse needs of our residents.


Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Activities Program: Design and implement a variety of engaging activities that cater to the interests and needs of our residents, including:
    • Group gatherings
    • Indoor and outdoor events
    • Off-site excursions
    • Encouraging resident participation in planning and executing activities
  • Activity Planning: Organize a diverse range of programs, such as:
    • Spiritual and creative activities (arts, crafts, music, drama)
    • Cognitive engagement (educational and intellectual pursuits)
    • Physical activities (exercise and games)
    • Social interactions and seasonal events
    • Sensory activities
  • Community Engagement: Foster community and family involvement through:
    • Pet therapy initiatives
    • Intergenerational programs
  • Monthly Calendar: Prepare and distribute a monthly activities calendar, ensuring visibility for residents, visitors, and staff.
  • Tenant Participation: Actively encourage resident involvement in all activities.
  • Tenant Council Meetings: Plan and facilitate monthly meetings, addressing resident concerns and sharing meeting notes with the management team.
  • Evening and Weekend Activities: Organize at least one evening and two weekend activities each month, including holiday events.
  • Community Events: Schedule and coordinate events that reflect the interests of our residents.
  • In-Room Activities: Plan and implement individual activities for residents unable to participate in group settings.
  • Newsletter Creation: Develop a monthly newsletter to keep residents and their families informed, featuring contributions from various departments.
  • Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers, recognizing their contributions to our community.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of resident participation and activities.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the interdisciplinary team to enhance the quality of care.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, ensuring the well-being of residents.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing education and training to stay current in the field.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
  • Organizational skills and efficiency.
  • Basic computer proficiency, preferably in Microsoft 365.
