Job Title: Lead Patient Access Services Representative

Northwell Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Patient Access Services Representative to join our team. As a key member of our patient access services team, you will be responsible for leading and guiding other representatives in the performance of their duties, ensuring seamless and efficient patient access to our healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and guide service representatives on the process of obtaining or clarifying insurance information and authorization requirements.
  • Use knowledge and skills to complete more complex elective procedural accounts and thoroughly document in computer systems.
  • Contact insurers to verify patients' insurance benefits, utilize insurance websites and other means of electronic insurance verification to obtain all necessary information for securing patient accounts.
  • Collect money due from patients at the time of service; may perform billing, receivable, and related functions.
  • Secure authorizations for admissions and procedures when necessary.
  • Coordinate registration functions and offer suggestions to optimize staff performance through process improvements.
  • Identify training needs for staff by developing and updating action plans.
  • Attend meetings such as rounding, forums, and huddles/management meetings.
  • Assist leadership team with daily reports and quality reviews.
  • Regularly model/mentor and train team members on technical skills.
  • Coordinate and provide input into work schedules; monitor adherence to schedules and report absences.
  • Provide work guidance, including checking and assigning work, to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Work on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.
  • Assist team members in determining methods and procedures for new tasks.
  • Make recommendations to management on new processes, tools, and techniques, or development of new products and services.
  • Make decisions regarding daily priorities for a workgroup/function; provide guidance to and/or assist team members on non-routine or escalated issues.
Requirements:
  • Associate degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience, required.
