Property Claims Adjuster

We are seeking a highly skilled Property General Adjuster to join our team at Selective Insurance. As a Property General Adjuster, you will be responsible for handling large and complex property claims, investigating and evaluating damages, and negotiating settlements within established authority.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate and resolve coverage issues for commercial and residential property and inland marine claims.
- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve property-related damages of $300,000 (aggregate) and above.
- Provide required reports to Claims, Underwriting, Reinsurance, and Actuarial on significant exposure cases.
- Respond to catastrophe claims handling in accordance with company CAT plan.
- Effectively and efficiently manage vendors and expenses.
- Provide training in coverage or estimating and direct assistance to regional CMS as may be requested by management.
- Report on all cases going to trial on a timely basis and attend portions of litigation or trials when summoned or when requested by management.
- Provide mentoring, direction, and leadership to subordinate colleagues.
- Ensure proper referrals and timely updates to appropriate Reinsurer(s).
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years claims experience and a minimum of two years experience handling large property claims.
- Thorough knowledge of Commercial and Personal Lines coverages.
- Experience with Xactimate or other computer-based damage estimating software.
- Experience in complex coverage analysis and significant large loss evaluations.
- Superior communication and strategic negotiation and claim disposition skills along with proven problem-solving skills.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Moderate proficiency with standard business-related software (including Microsoft Outlook, Work Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Sufficient keyboarding proficiency to enter data accurately and efficiently.
- Must possess or secure and maintain appropriate state adjuster license(s) and continuing education credits.
- Must have valid state-issued drivers license in good standing and be able to drive an automobile.
- Must have the ability to work varying shifts.
