Job Title: Program Instructor

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Program Instructor to join our team at Sunnycrest Manor in Dubuque, IA.

Job Summary:

The Program Instructor will provide personalized care and support to individuals with disabilities, assisting with daily activities and promoting independence. This is a part-time opportunity that requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a willingness to obtain Certified Nursing Assistant certification within a year of employment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide personal care, instruction, and training to residents and clients
  • Prepare clients for school, work, and daily activities
  • Teach adult living skills, including bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and personal hygiene
  • Assist clients with mobility and transfer
  • Teach behavioral skills and protect clients from harm and self-abuse
  • Control clients using verbal redirection, mechanical, and physical restraints
  • Provide occupational and daily living therapy to assist clients in adapting to their environment
  • Teach and demonstrate proper manners, eating skills, and maintenance activities
  • Provide physical therapy and exercise programs
  • Assist with communication skills based on client needs, using sign language and verbalization
  • Teach money skills and escort clients to recreational, leisure, shopping, or other trips
  • Escort clients to doctor's appointments and/or hospital
  • Maintain detailed records and charts on client activities and results
  • Perform general housekeeping, laundry, and meal duties as required
  • Follow prescribed protocols for safety and infection control
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to obtain Certified Nursing Assistant certification within a year of employment
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete Program Instructor and Crisis Prevention Intervention training courses within six months of employment
  • Pass the prescribed pre-employment physical, abuse registry review, and criminal background check
  • Experience in the custodial care of intellectually disabled patients preferred
Working Conditions:

This role requires standing most of the time, with regular walking between locations. The ability to push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance is necessary. Some exposure to slippery surfaces when floors are wet and exposure to chemicals from cleaning compounds and bodily fluids require the use of personal protective equipment.
