Job Title: Swim Lesson Instructor

Join our team of dedicated professionals at the Dubuque Community Y and make a difference in the lives of our members and program participants. As a Swim Lesson Instructor, you will have the opportunity to teach the next generation the importance of safety around water and help them improve their swimming abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines
  • Prepare lesson plans and support members and program participants in achieving their goals
  • Provide a safe and supportive learning environment

Requirements:

  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certifications
  • Ability to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards
  • At least 16 years of age

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
  • Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques
  • Ability to lift equipment and to lift a small to average size child
