Job Summary

The CARE Advocate is a critical member of the Vice-Chancellor's Office of Diversity and Outreach at UCSF. This role provides confidential and privileged advice, assistance, and advocacy on behalf of individuals concerning sexual violence, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.

The advocate plays a key role in coordinating services with local agencies on behalf of the subject, including Student Services, faculty staff assistance, the local campus police department, coordination of legal advocacy, medical advocacy, and other assistance/University services as needed.

This position requires a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas. The incumbent must be able to analyze unique issues/problems without precedent and/or structure, and formulate strategies to best serve the complainant's interests in immediate and long-term resolution of their situation.

The CARE Advocate will lead other staff in developing effective outreach campaigns and may manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy.

In addition to the above responsibilities, the incumbent is required to have experience in developing and conducting trainings on Sexual Harassment Violence and Prevention, incivility, and other topics including the university's principles of community.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, or a related field (sociology, social work, psychology, public health)
  • Preferred Qualifications: A qualified psychotherapist with a master's degree in counseling or has one year of counseling with six months of rape crisis experience
