SLD ECLS Fan and Acoustics Lead Engineer
At Blue Origin, we're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. As part of our Lunar Transportation business unit, we're building the sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface.
This role is responsible for leading the design, development, and testing of Environmental Control and Life Support (ECLS) systems for our spacecraft. The ECLS system is composed of the essential hardware to allow humans to safely inhabit space, including air circulation, carbon dioxide scrubbing, oxygen supply, and temperature control.
As the ECLS Fan and Acoustics Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for owning and leading the Ventilation and Atmosphere Revitalization fan assemblies and interfaces through the entire life cycle: conception, design, build, test, install, and operations. You will derive functional and performance requirements, specify hardware, perform system calculations and basic analyses, design and integrate the fan assemblies and acoustics into ECLS systems, define and maintain interfaces and schematics, and support manufacturing engineers in fabrication and assembly planning of hardware.
Additionally, you will provide technical and program guidance to solve problems with the help of your team, be actively involved in development testing of your hardware, lead a multi-discipline product team, determine and manage schedule and budget for owned hardware, show system and component compliance to Blue and NASA technical requirements, and be the technical point of contact for your hardware.
Minimum qualifications include a BS in a related engineering field, experience in one or more areas of the product life cycle, experience leading small technical teams, and 3+ years experience with development of fans, blowers, controllers, and/or acoustics control. Preferred qualifications include working knowledge of Creo, 6+ years experience with fans and/or blowers and controllers, experience with small project management, worked on a crewed spaceflight program, and experience working with suppliers during the development of the hardware.
Compensation range for on-site WA applicants is $146,645-$205,302, and for on-site CA applicants is $134,838-$188,773. Other site ranges may differ.
Blue Origin is proud to be an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and is committed to attracting, retaining, and developing a highly qualified, diverse, and dedicated work force. We provide all qualified applicants for employment and employees with equal opportunities for hire, promotion, and other terms and conditions of employment, regardless of their race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin/ethnicity, age, physical or mental disability, genetic factors, military/veteran status, or any other status or characteristic protected by federal, state, and/or local law.
