Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team at WSP. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the design and construction of major infrastructure projects throughout the United States and abroad.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and ambitious engineer to work on a variety of projects, including road and rail tunnels, transportation centers, transit maintenance facilities, commercial buildings and structures, substations, process facilities, parking structures and pump stations. Your expertise will be essential in performing critical engineering functions on highly visible and significant projects for an internationally recognized global firm in a field designated for expansion.

Your Impact

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading HVAC design efforts on major building and infrastructure projects. This will include preparing design documents, calculations, drawings and specifications for mechanical systems, including emergency ventilation systems, building HVAC systems, piping and hydraulic systems. You will also perform emergency ventilation analyses to control smoke movement in road and rail tunnels using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools.

Key Responsibilities

Lead HVAC design efforts on major building and infrastructure projects

Prepare design documents, calculations, drawings and specifications for mechanical systems

Perform emergency ventilation analyses to control smoke movement in road and rail tunnels using CFD tools

Design large-capacity emergency ventilation fan plants for road and rail tunnel smoke control

Perform system pressure drop, air distribution and ducting calculations for tunnel ventilation systems

Work with and mentor junior engineers

Assist in the development of costs estimates for mechanical systems

Produce design elements using advanced CAD methods, 3D modeling and BIM

Provide field inspection, system testing and other support during construction activities

Requirements

We are looking for a highly experienced engineer with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline. You should have 7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering discipline and prior mechanical design experience. An Engineer license is also required. You should be proficient with mechanical engineering principles, practices, process, and the application to project work-related issues. Extensive knowledge of building and infrastructure design, codes and standards is also essential.

Compensation

The expected salary for this position is $95,000 - $169,290. WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
