Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Technician to join our team at Parker Hannifin Corporation Parker Aerospace Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing all duties necessary to the efficient operation of all equipment in the department, including operating and maintaining plant equipment in accordance with standard work and building procedures.

The Automation Technician will work closely with the Engineering team to design, build, implement, and maintain custom-built equipment and processes. This includes developing innovative and creative approaches for improvement in safety, quality, and productivity in processes and equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and machine sensors. They will also have excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with the Engineering team and other departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement or test design solutions
  • Perform runs on equipment in support of the Engineering team
  • Repair or replace broken components and test machines for performance
  • Read/interpret schematics and layout drawings of equipment
  • Communicate automation problems with the Engineering team and other appropriate functions
  • Recommend improvements to assembly, maintenance, safety, test method of product through automated process
  • Must be capable of following and meeting standard work requirements
  • Must be able to use computer programs to assist in recording data, making labels, printing tooling layouts, obtaining prints and specifications, etc.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Trade school education preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of trade school education and/or industrial manufacturing experience in a similar role

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Process knowledge specific to hose manufacturing
  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Sound decision-making skills
  • Good math, reading, and writing skills
  • Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention
  • Creative and out-of-the-box thinker to visualize and construct equipment and/or make modifications that will improve safety and productivity for our processes and people

Skills/Competencies:

  • Basic computer skills

Vision:

  • Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks
  • Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail
  • Have working knowledge of the maintenance and functionality of various types of manufacturing equipment
  • Have working knowledge and understanding of plumbing, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, electrical equipment (systems up to 480 volts), carpentry, fabrication, and design
  • Familiarity with programming knowledge in PLCs, HMIs
  • Strong working knowledge of Machine Sensors
  • Strong understanding of mechanics

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate material handling equipment
  • Ability to work in hot temperatures during the summer
  • Occasional crawling and/or climbing
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor conditions
  • Occasional assignments working at heights
