Tumor Registrar

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tumor Registrar to join our team at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC). As a key member of our cancer registry team, you will play a critical role in collecting and retrieving data using our computerized cancer registry system.

• Collect and retrieve data using our computerized cancer registry system
• Abstract and follow-up on cases of malignant diseases diagnosed and treated at the medical center
• Read and interpret medical information from patient records to code and classify malignant cases
• Operate a computer terminal to retrieve patient information and perform cancer registry inquiry tasks
• Analyze and interpret cancer registry data for users of the registry

• Certification eligible for Accreditation by the American Health Information Management Association; Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification preferred
• High School diploma or equivalent required; degree in Health Sciences or related field preferred
• Ability to read and interpret medical information; ability to abstract information from patient records
• Ability to operate a computer terminal; ability to analyze and interpret cancer registry data
