Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Memory Care Program Coordinator to join our team at Maplewood at Newtown LLC. As a key member of our senior living community, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing memory care programs that promote the well-being and quality of life for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Design and implement monthly program calendars that cater to residents' abilities, interests, and hobbies.
    • Plan, conduct, and monitor recreational programs to meet the needs of our memory care population.
    • Select, schedule, and lead activities suitable for all levels of memory-impaired residents.
  • Staff Training and Support
    • Provide Habilitation Therapy Training to new hires in the absence of the Memory Care Director.
    • Deliver the Heart Philosophy Training, Basics of Dementia, and Wandering and Elopement Overview during new hire orientation.
    • Conduct monthly dementia in-services to all associates, focusing on dementia-related topics.
  • Family Education and Support
    • Organize and facilitate a monthly family support group.
    • Provide regular communication with families through calendar newsletters, emails, phone calls, and positive reassurance.
  • Dining Program Support
    • Assist with supervising the dining room and providing necessary assistance to residents.
    • Ensure tables are set with all necessary utensils and adaptive devices are utilized.
  • Sales and Marketing
    • Assist with touring and providing information about our memory care program to families of prospective residents.
    • Participate in a minimum of one committee or activity for the Alzheimer's Association.
Requirements
  • An associate degree from an accredited college or university or satisfactory completion of two years of college, with major work in social work, nursing, psychology, gerontology, or therapeutic recreation or a related field.
  • A Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Basic typing skills and computer knowledge, with familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Publisher, and creative software.
