Job Opportunity: Secondary Science Teacher

About the Position:

The SEED Public Charter School of Washington D.C. is seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary Science teacher to provide instruction in Physics, Biology, and/or Chemistry to prepare students for high school science content standards and college-level coursework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create an engaging learning environment that fosters active student participation in the learning process.
  • Promote and support a program based on standards mastery.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans, assess student progress, and communicate knowledge effectively.
  • Take attendance, communicate with parents, and participate in faculty meetings and professional development programs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve instruction and contribute to the continuous improvement of the school's curriculum and assessment design.
  • Assess student learning, maintain records, and provide final grades and progress reports as necessary.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working in urban education, with a Praxis II passing score in the content area.
  • Master's degree and/or prior teaching experience are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of K-12 teaching standards and frameworks.
  • A love for working with young people, a commitment to diversity and inclusivity, and a passion for innovative and experiential teaching methods.
  • Excellent technology skills and experience integrating technology into the curriculum.

Compensation and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience. The SEED Public Charter School of Washington D.C. offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
