Role Summary
The Chief Academic Officer is responsible for overseeing all aspects of student admissions, financial aid, job placement, and academic programs within the institution. This role includes establishing admission criteria, managing personnel, and developing policies related to placement, academics, and financial operations, while ensuring effective oversight of instructional staff and guest educators.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership aligned with the institution's core values and mission.
- Lead the strategic planning efforts for both short-term and long-term objectives.
- Drive initiatives for student enrollment, development, and community outreach to enhance the institution's financial sustainability.
- Act as the primary representative of the institution to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Build and maintain partnerships with external organizations to support institutional goals.
- Manage and resolve conflicts involving students, fostering an environment of organizational learning.
- Support the resolution of professional development challenges from a holistic perspective.
- Deliver regular updates to the President/Founder and Board regarding institutional initiatives and challenges.
- Facilitate the processes and systems necessary for a thriving educational environment.
Institutional Representation
- Serve as the institution's spokesperson and engage in public speaking opportunities.
- Maintain consistent communication with students and the broader school community through newsletters and official correspondence.
- Act as the primary contact for school-wide issues, with a secondary role in addressing curriculum-related concerns.
- Co-chair the Governance Council alongside the Finance and Administration Director.
- Assist the School Chair in addressing faculty-related matters as required.
- Establish timelines for conflict resolution involving students, collaborating with the Governance Council to ensure timely outcomes.
- Engage with the local community to develop and promote school activities.
- Oversee budgetary considerations and improvements to the institution's facilities, subject to approval.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accreditation standards and personnel policies.
- Supervise the hiring and onboarding processes for all school staff.
Enrollment, Outreach & Development
- Collaborate with the Enrollment Committee and Admissions Director to create a strategic enrollment growth plan.
- Support outreach initiatives to enhance community awareness and build relationships with external partners.
- Work with the Development Director and Committee to formulate a strategic development plan.
- Foster relationships within the institution and with external communities.
Board Engagement
- Participate in all Board meetings and related events as an ex-officio member.
