Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of this role is to accurately receive, inspect, and process returned equipment, components, and accessories from various sources, including dealers and end users. This position also entails refurbishing equipment and accessories to ensure they meet resale standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive returned items, confirming the accuracy of shipments and documenting the condition of packaging when necessary. Process relevant computer transactions and reconcile received items with accompanying documentation, noting any discrepancies.
  • Assess whether a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) has been issued or if a warranty claim is active for the returned items.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Department to track undocumented returns to ensure proper credit is issued or items are returned to the sender.
  • Organize returned materials along with their documentation for evaluation by the Technical Support team.
  • Inspect and assess freight-damaged new equipment and accessories to determine their potential for refurbishment, categorizing them as either new or 'Scratch & Dent' items.
  • Evaluate customer returns to ascertain if they can be restored to a usable condition, particularly those with food contact.
  • Oversee the refurbishment process for eligible equipment and accessories, ensuring that necessary parts are ordered and that all relevant manuals and inserts are included with the refurbished items.
  • Ensure that returned equipment is thoroughly cleaned of any food residues to qualify for resale as 'Used with Food Contact.'
  • Maintain an inventory of boxing materials for the re-packaging process.
  • Convert standard mixers to specialized Correctional Package units prior to shipment.
  • Coordinate with the Parts Department Manager to replenish supplies needed for correctional conversions.
  • Assist the Logistics Department in filing freight claims by documenting and photographing damaged returns and uploading this information to the appropriate system.
  • Facilitate the transfer of refurbished equipment from one location to another, ensuring proper staging for warehouse personnel.
  • Manage the Scrap Material Disposal process, including recording weights and maintaining necessary documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary training in a technical field is advantageous.
  • Experience in servicing restaurant equipment is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in an industrial receiving environment or related work experience in processing returns.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and standard material handling equipment.
