POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking a LEAD CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER to enhance Cannon's construction management capabilities in the Southern California region. This role is based in our office and offers a vibrant community with excellent amenities.

PROJECT SCOPE: The projects you will oversee include but are not limited to: roadways, bridges, wastewater treatment facilities, water distribution systems, and recreational infrastructure.

ROLE SUMMARY: The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California, possessing a degree in engineering, and will play a pivotal role in the growth and management of our construction management services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee construction management for public works projects, including roadway construction, drainage systems, and municipal structures.
  • Identify and resolve complex construction challenges and contractual issues.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and claims management.
  • Engage in business development and prepare proposals.
  • Act as the primary liaison with clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers and inspection staff.
  • Conduct thorough constructability analyses and review construction documents.
  • Develop and execute construction management strategies for intricate civil projects.
  • Manage project scopes, budgets, and timelines effectively.
  • Coordinate inspection and engineering services as required.
  • Review project drawings and submissions for compliance with contract specifications.
  • Facilitate sub-consultant activities, including materials testing.
  • Prepare and negotiate Contract Change Orders.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct meetings to plan and coordinate project activities.
  • Perform quantity calculations for construction items.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ESSENTIAL: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • ESSENTIAL: Minimum of 10 years of experience in Construction Management and Civil Engineering.
  • ESSENTIAL: Valid California P.E. license in Civil Engineering.
  • Proven experience in managing client relationships and expanding construction management services.
  • Familiarity with public utility and government agency coordination.
  • Knowledge of construction safety protocols and practices.
  • Experience with infrastructure construction, including water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
  • Understanding of State and Federal funding regulations and compliance.
  • Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel; experience with construction management software is a plus.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling software is advantageous.
