Job Title: EHS Manager

Location: Santa Cruz, CA

Compensation: $130,000 - $145,000, 20% bonus, profit sharing, 401k, relocation, health, PTO

Job Summary:

The EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safeguard employees, and minimize environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the power plant adheres to all federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and industry-specific standards.
  • Environmental Management: Monitor and manage environmental impact by overseeing waste management, emissions control, and pollution prevention programs to ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
  • Health and Wellness Initiatives: Promote and manage health and wellness programs to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, including ergonomics, occupational health screenings, and wellness activities.
  • Training and Development: Design and deliver EHS training programs for plant personnel to ensure they are knowledgeable about safety procedures, environmental practices, and emergency protocols.
  • Incident Management: Lead investigations into workplace accidents, environmental incidents, and near misses, providing detailed reports and recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
  • Compliance Audits: Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to assess EHS performance, identify areas for improvement, and ensure ongoing compliance with relevant standards.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for EHS-related matters, collaborating with regulatory agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders to address EHS concerns and ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Data Management and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of EHS activities, incidents, and compliance metrics, and prepare detailed reports for management review and regulatory submissions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by staying current with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in EHS, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance safety and environmental performance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in EHS management within the power generation industry or a similar industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
