Description:
Under general supervision, this role is designed to execute highly specialized and technical tasks related to the upkeep, diagnostics, and repair of heavy machinery and equipment powered by gasoline or diesel.
As a senior-level employee, you will engage in complex tasks independently and handle more challenging responsibilities under the oversight of the Quality Assurance Inspector.
Compensation:
Salary will be determined based on the qualifications of candidates who surpass the minimum requirements outlined in the job description. Additional compensation may be available based on licensure.
Key Responsibilities:
These responsibilities are intended to illustrate the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position.
1. Conduct diagnostic assessments on malfunctioning vehicles and heavy machinery to ascertain necessary repairs and maintenance.
2. Execute intricate preventive maintenance, overhauls, and repair services on heavy trucks and off-road equipment, as well as other gasoline and diesel-powered machinery.
3. Perform a diverse range of skilled mechanical tasks, including repairing, servicing, and adjusting engines and associated components such as hydraulic systems, air compressors, pumps, fuel systems, ignition systems, electrical systems, and transmissions.
4. May be required to provide emergency roadside assistance for vehicles and equipment outside of the workshop.
5. Demonstrate the ability to repair and weld using oxy-acetylene and electrical welding techniques, and safely operate various hand and power tools, including grinders, sanders, drill presses, and lathes.
6. Conduct road tests to evaluate the performance of various equipment, including light and heavy trucks and other gasoline and diesel-powered machinery.
Additional Duties:
Perform any other related duties as assigned or deemed necessary for the position. In emergencies, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to undertake alternative duties.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma and/or GED. Certificates of Training and/or current ASE certification in the following areas:
- Master ASE Heavy Truck
- ASE 609 certified
- A/CASE Certified in (L-2) Electronic Diesel Engine
- Cummins 07 ISM/ISX HD Engine
- Navistar ISL9 CM2350
- Allison Transmission Electronic Controls and Diagnosis
- Cummins QSF2.8 Tier 4 Industrial Engine
Must possess and maintain a valid Class-A Florida Commercial Driver's License or have the ability to obtain it within six months of hire.
Seven years of experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel-powered engines and heavy machinery, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Additional Requirements:
Thorough knowledge of the assembly, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of heavy and specialized gasoline and diesel-powered equipment, including construction machinery and trucks.
Physical Demands:
This position requires physical agility in climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and crawling. Heavy lifting of up to 100 pounds is required, with frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds.
This role requires participation in an On-Call rotation and may necessitate working beyond standard business hours as per applicable policies.
