Job Title: Academic Coordinator Job Summary: The Athletic Department at Bethune-Cookman University invites applications for the full-time position of Academic Coordinator. This role serves as a vital support system for student-athletes, assisting them in achieving academic success and meeting their degree requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with coaches, administrators, and faculty to ensure that student-athletes receive the necessary guidance and resources to excel academically. Duties and Responsibilities: * Serve as an academic coordinator for assigned sport teams, providing guidance and support to student-athletes in their academic pursuits. * Assist student-athletes in understanding University and degree requirements, and develop a responsible approach to academic planning. * Collaborate with coaches and administrators to monitor student-athlete course performance and provide data-driven insights to inform academic support strategies. * Maintain accurate academic records and develop statistical analysis of academic success or challenges. * Communicate with coaches and track the admission status, assessment, and pre-registration of new student-athletes. * Assist with on-campus recruitment visits and provide academic information to prospective student-athletes. * Assist upperclassmen in all graduation matters, including career counseling, letters of recommendation, and post-graduate testing and application. * Participate in professional organizational governance and stay up-to-date on NCAA, SWAC conference, and institutional eligibility requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). * Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with diverse populations. * Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information. * Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with the University community and the public. * Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively. * Ability to demonstrate effective athletic personnel and programmatic administration, leadership, and supervisory skills and strategies. * Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, as well as APR used by NCAA institutions. * Ability to interpret and adhere to NCAA Rules and B-CU Academic Standards. * Ability to work some nights and weekends. * Ability to meet the needs of student-athletes experiencing adjustment or academic difficulties. Education and Experience: * Master's degree in an appropriate area of study and three (3) or more years of related experience in intercollegiate athletics administration. * Working knowledge and experience with applicable NCAA legislation. * Previous experience as a collegiate athlete, compliance officer, or coach in a NCAA Division I program preferred.
