Engaging After School Program Leader

Department: Parks, Recreation and Forestry

Position Overview:
As an After School Program Leader, you will be instrumental in orchestrating and facilitating a dynamic program at the designated educational institution.

Schedule:
  • Afternoon sessions from 2:15 PM to 6:00 PM or 3:15 PM to 6:00 PM (varies by site)
  • Morning sessions from 6:45 AM to 8:45 AM or 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM (varies by site)
  • Monday through Friday during the academic year, including select non-school days

Compensation: $13 - $16 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Engage in pre-season staff orientation and training.
  2. Design and facilitate activities at the school site, ensuring active participation from all enrolled students.
  3. Create and execute a curriculum that fosters enjoyable, innovative, and secure experiences for participants.
  4. Mitigate risks by identifying and addressing potential hazards.
  5. Uphold program rules and regulations.
  6. Oversee the program facility and all associated equipment.
  7. Ensure timely management of Enrichment Bins.
  8. Organize special events and themed activities at the afterschool site.
  9. Complete necessary documentation promptly, including daily attendance and permission slips.
  10. Administer first aid as required and fill out appropriate incident reports.
  11. Promote and exemplify good sportsmanship in all activities.
  12. Participate in staff meetings.
  13. Maintain appropriate attire while on duty.
  14. Assist in the supervision of program volunteers.
  15. Adhere to all employee work regulations set forth by the City of Waukesha.
  16. Return all keys, documentation, and equipment at the conclusion of the program.
  17. Maintain effective communication with WPRF, school administration, fellow instructors, and parents.

Qualifications:
  1. Previous experience working with students is preferred.
  2. Strong skills in leadership, decision-making, planning, organization, and communication.
  3. Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities effectively.
  4. Willingness to collaborate in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  5. Enthusiastic demeanor and adaptability to changing circumstances.
