Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at Tact Staff. As a Mammography Technologist, you will be responsible for performing mammographic procedures on in/outpatients according to published department protocols. You will review each prescription, history questionnaire, and patient record prior to the examination to ensure all pertinent information is available for radiologist interpretation. You will also perform radiologic examinations with a high standard of accuracy in positioning and technical factors, practicing universal precautions and aseptic technique to prevent cross contamination.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform mammographic procedures on in/outpatients according to published department protocols.
  • Review each prescription, history questionnaire, and patient record prior to the examination to ensure all pertinent information is available for radiologist interpretation.
  • Perform radiologic examinations with a high standard of accuracy in positioning and technical factors.
  • Practice universal precautions and aseptic technique to prevent cross contamination.
  • Process images using the PAC system.
  • Complete and verify cases in a timely manner.
  • Ensure work lists are cleaned up daily.
  • Monitor and resolve Exceptions List daily.
  • Properly utilize the Breast reporting system (PenRad), EMR, and PACS systems.
  • Properly load external imaging and create necessary orders and scanning of reports into PACS system for radiologist review.
  • Analyze each acquired image for proper positioning, proper markers, date stickers, and appropriate labels and patient identification.
  • Repeat image if presence of any factors that may deter from its diagnostic value.
  • Maintain a responsive/respectful relationship with patients.
  • Assess and respond to patients' physical, sociological/psychological needs.
  • Explain all procedures in a clear and concise manner.
  • Understand and respect cultural differences.
  • Make use of Cyracom phone when needed for language barriers.
  • Knowledge and utilization of Vocera.
  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned work area.
  • Ensure assigned area is properly stocked with adequate supplies and required material to perform procedures.
  • Ensure cleanliness of radiographic equipment and work area.
  • Communicate efficiently with coordinators, supervisors, point person, and vendors.
  • Ensure continuity and adequate follow-through regarding equipment malfunctions.
  • Communicate appropriately with patients, co-workers, students, physicians, and supervisors.
  • Work in conjunction with Ultrasound to ensure a productive and comprehensive flow of patients through both modalities.
  • Perform bone density scans accurately, understanding of terminology and results.
  • Accurate review of interventional cases and working knowledge of interventional procedures and protocols.
  • Assist with needle localizations, and if trained, stereotactic biopsies.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Practice the ALARA principle for radiation protection.
  • Accurately and effectively perform QA as per MQSA guidelines.
  • Report problems to Clinical Engineering and supervisor.
  • Orient new employees and participate as preceptor for procedures if requested.
  • Exhibit a responsible attitude with regard to attendance and tardiness.
  • Always provide notification and advance notice for absence or tardiness.
  • Always demonstrate reliability and make every attempt to consistently report to work on time at the start of the assigned shift, even in inclement weather.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Able to perform screening and diagnostic mammography at a minimum.
  • Preferred skills and experience: ability to perform DEXA and biopsy procedures.
