Job Title: Building & Environmental Services Technician

Winston-Salem State University is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Building & Environmental Services Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our academic, administrative, and performance buildings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily routine and detail cleaning tasks in assigned work areas, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, disinfecting, and vacuuming.
  • Resupply assigned work areas with necessary cleaning products and equipment.
  • Clean restrooms, including sweeping and mopping floors, commodes and urinals, sinks, mirrors, and dispensers.
  • Perform detail cleaning of assigned areas, including high and low dusting, glass, and lobbies.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and customers to ensure work is completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Offer to assist co-workers when needed and share knowledge, resources, and ideas to reach common goals.
  • Attend and seek out training to further enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Some knowledge of cleaning procedures and ability to follow instructions.
  • Medium to heavy physical work required.
  • Experience with institutional cleaning in an educational setting, preferably higher education.
  • Familiarity with a variety of cleaning equipment, including vacuums, burnishers, scrubbers, extractors, and wet vacs.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in regard to adjustments in job tasks and assignments.
Working Conditions:

This position requires working during periods of adverse weather or other emergencies. The successful candidate will be required to work on-call/emergency callback as needed.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this position will be determined based on competencies, equity, budget, and market considerations. The university offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
