Position Overview:
As the Admissions Team Leader, you will oversee the daily functions of patient intake and admissions, which encompasses managing calls and referrals, scheduling assessments, verifying benefits, and ensuring timely completion of pre-certifications.
Key Responsibilities:
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- During your assigned shift, you will plan, delegate, supervise, and execute essential tasks to maintain patient safety and optimize departmental efficiency.
- Assess and prioritize potential admissions, taking into account patient requirements and the facility's ability to adequately address those needs.
- Utilize knowledge of environment management to enhance patient experiences.
- Apply appropriate clinical evaluations, diagnoses, and interventions for patients.
- Collaborate with the financial department to guarantee prompt and precise financial counseling for patients when necessary.
- Offer support and direction to team members, fostering an atmosphere of trust, respect, and collaboration.
- Ensure completion of EMTALA logs, if applicable, for each patient processed through admissions.
- Engage in staff development by mentoring new admissions team members.
- Communicate any challenges encountered during your shift to the Assistant Operations Coordinator or Admissions Director.
- Exhibit a consistently positive, empathetic, and professional demeanor towards all customers. When patient needs are unmet, acknowledge and address concerns promptly, recognizing that patient safety is paramount.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- Carry out other responsibilities and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A Master's degree in a social services discipline is preferred, or a Registered Nurse (RN) designation is required.
- In certain states, candidates may also be RNs, necessitating an associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare admissions role is preferred.
- Supervisory or leadership experience in a healthcare admissions environment is also preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certifications are preferred (training will be provided upon hire).
- First aid certification may be preferred based on state or facility requirements.
