As a Wildlife Care Specialist, your duties will encompass:

  • Conducting close monitoring of animal behavior, health, and well-being, and promptly reporting any concerns to the veterinary team.
  • Executing animal management procedures in accordance with established protocols.
  • Engaging with visitors to promote conservation awareness through educational presentations and interactive experiences.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of animal care and observations.
  • Assisting in veterinary procedures and animal transport as required.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of species-specific enrichment activities.
  • Ensuring cleanliness and safety in both exhibit and off-exhibit areas.
  • Collaborating with team members to initiate and complete projects aimed at enhancing animal habitats.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A high school diploma or GED; an associate degree or higher is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in animal care within an accredited institution.
  • Certifications in SCUBA and First Aid, depending on specific job requirements.
  • Proficiency in using word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of zoonotic disease prevention and safety protocols.

Candidates must be able to:

  • Work in various weather conditions typical of the region.
