Onsite:

This role is categorized as onsite, requiring the successful candidate to report to Bowling Green Assembly on a full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily support of production operations with a focus on personnel and equipment safety, process quality, and uptime.
  • Provide technical/engineering support to assist production and maintenance with troubleshooting equipment/process failures and identifying effective follow-up countermeasures.
  • Supervise skilled trades personnel when required.
  • Identify and execute projects to support achievement of departmental business objectives and continuous improvement of safety, quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Ensure new and existing equipment meets operational requirements and appropriate standards.
  • Machinery/equipment controls management to ensure compliance with GM Safety and Controls standards.
  • Maintenance/production guidance (technical troubleshooting and direction, safety counsel).
  • Ensure proper documentation (drawings, manuals, etc.) is available and properly maintained for all equipment in assigned area and collaborate to develop maintenance standard operating procedures (SOPs/task instruction sheets).
  • Participate in downtime planning and launch activities, as required.
  • Identify technical training and knowledge transfer opportunities with other Controls Engineers and Maintenance Teams.
  • Maintain current knowledge in fields of expertise.
Requirements:
  • 3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience in Controls Field.
  • Intimate knowledge of automotive tooling and manufacturing assembly processes.
  • Broad industrial controls and automation knowledge as it relates to automotive assembly plant.
  • Oral and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex subjects to a wider audience.
  • Must be willing to rotate between first and second shifts.
  • Must be willing to work daily and weekend overtime as required/needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Rockwell Contrologix platform and RSLogix 5000.
  • Proficient in Rockwell EtherNET IP architecture and configuration.
  • Proficient in Rockwell DeviceNET architecture and configuration.
  • VFD experience (PowerFlex 700, 755, ArmorStarts, MoviMOT).
  • Fanuc robotics automation experience.
  • Proficient with AutoCad.
  • Proficient with basic electrical standards, NEC Code, and GM standards.
  • Proficient with safety standards, lockout, ESWP, safety assessments, buyoff processes, GM standard safety protocols.
