Job Summary

The Medical Support Specialist will be responsible for determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. This role requires a strong understanding of medical procedures and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Determine donor eligibility by conducting medical history interviews, physical examinations, and reviewing laboratory test results.
  • Evaluate donor reactions at the facility and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for medical emergencies.
  • Collaborate with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs team when necessary, providing unacceptable findings to donors or seeking guidance on medical or technical issues.
  • Support employee health initiatives, including Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs.
  • Manage employee incidents, determining whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, and referring to EHS guidance as needed.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate degree from an accredited nursing program that meets state requirements.
  • Current licensure or certification as a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
  • Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy in the state of licensure.
  • Satisfactory completion of FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialists.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Compensation and Benefits:

$29.62 - $40.72 per hour. U.S.-based employees may be eligible for short-term incentives and participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits.
