Railroad Maintenance and Construction Opportunities

At American Track, we're committed to building a sustainable and innovative railroad maintenance and construction team. As a Railroad Maintenance Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rail network.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks on rail tracks, including replacing ties, switches, and ballast
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as bulldozers and spike mauls, to maintain and repair rail tracks
  • Install and repair signs on railroad crossings
  • Align and slide track tie plates and cut rails to specified lengths
  • Perform drilling activities for insertion of bolts or joints
  • Remove brush and other vegetation from between rails
  • Complete authorized repairs and document outcomes of all repair activities
  • Lay and fix foundations for tracks, replace worn-out or rough rail ends, rebuild roadbeds, and lay new rail sections
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; previous experience in the railroad or heavy construction industry preferred
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and travel to various job sites, including those that require overnight stays
  • Willingness to follow company and federal rules, policies, and procedures, and wear required safety equipment
