Diesel Electrician

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Electrician to join our team at Union Pacific Railroad. As a Diesel Electrician, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing the electrical systems of our diesel-electric locomotives.

• Conduct scheduled inspections and maintenance tasks on electrical components to ensure optimal condition.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions in locomotive control circuits and components.
• Perform maintenance and repair of electrical components in locomotive cabs or electrical compartments.
• Utilize schematics and location circuit plans to conduct electrical inspections and circuit tests.
• Coordinate work activities and plan necessary steps to complete tasks.

• Valid driver's license.
• Proficiency in keyboarding.
• Background in electronics, control systems, AC/DC motors, or possession of a current journeyman's electrical card.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and prints.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Completion of a recognized formal electrical training program.
• Possession of relevant certifications and/or licenses as an electrician.
• Associate's degree in electricity or electronics.
• Demonstrated experience working outdoors in diverse weather conditions.

The job may involve tasks performed at elevations of 20 feet or higher. A strong commitment to practicing safe work habits is essential. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including safety glasses, safety boots, hard hats, and hearing protection.
