At Lafayette School, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced School Transportation Specialist - Student Safety Expert to join our team. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school and related events.

About the Role:

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about providing excellent customer service and ensuring the well-being of our students. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of operating a school bus safely and efficiently, with a strong focus on student safety and punctuality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safe and legal operation of a school bus: You will be responsible for transporting students safely and legally, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Timely transportation of students: You will ensure that students arrive at their destinations on time, taking into account factors such as traffic, road conditions, and weather.
  • Proper loading and unloading of students: You will ensure that students board and exit the bus safely and efficiently, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Accurate completion of paperwork: You will maintain accurate records of student attendance, tardiness, and other relevant information.
  • Maintenance of professional relations: You will develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, promoting a culture of respect and professionalism.
Requirements:
  • 21 years of age or older: You must meet the minimum age requirement to apply for this role.
  • Current School Bus Driver Certification: You must hold a valid certification in school bus driving, demonstrating your expertise and commitment to student safety.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record: You must have a clean driving record, free from any convictions that would render you unfit to drive a school bus.
  • Pass all drug and alcohol tests: You must pass regular drug and alcohol tests to ensure your fitness to drive.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Department of Transportation regulations: You must be familiar with relevant regulations and guidelines governing school bus transportation.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations: You must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills to complete tasks and maintain accurate records.
  • Good communication skills: You must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle safety systems: You must be familiar with the safety features of our school buses and be able to operate them safely.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification: You must hold current certification in CPR and first aid, demonstrating your commitment to student health and safety.
