Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Alumni Communications to join our team at the University of Houston. As a key member of our Advancement department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies to engage our alumni and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage communication materials, including proposals, stewardship reports, and publications.
  • Serve as a liaison between the University Relations writing team and Development directors to ensure timely and accurate work.
  • Provide editorial support for university-wide communication projects and provide general technical knowledge and experience in writing, editing, and communication.
  • Coordinate work with a broad group of writers/editors and develop project management procedures and systems.
  • Research, write, and edit funding proposals to support the university's highest priorities.
  • Produce donor recognition reports, marketing documents, and publications progress reports.
  • Work closely with other advancement communications departments and integrate efforts where possible.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Strong understanding of communication principles and practices.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with writing proposals and developing communication campaigns.
  • Knowledge of the University of Houston's Advancement department and its goals.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of writers/editors.
