Patient Relations Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Relations Support Specialist to join our team at Strong Memorial Hospital. As a key member of our care team, you will work closely with patients, families, and hospital staff to address concerns, special needs, and care issues.
Responsibilities:
Patient Belongings Management
Ensure patient belongings are secured upon admission and stored appropriately. Maintain storage of glasses, hearing aids, dentures, and other valuables according to policy. Maintain order and identification of belongings that can be easily identified by nursing staff. Document when belongings/valuables leave with patients upon discharge.
Rounding
Assist LPNs in performing safety checks, ensuring call lights and phones are within reach, providing comfort items such as pillows, blankets, ice chips, and hot/cold packs. Monitor dementia/confused patients to ensure they are safe in a chair or bed. Report any safety concerns or other issues to LPNs and/or bedside nurses. Respond to other areas when called/paged.
Ensuring Patient Family Experience is Satisfactory
Investigate and resolve complaints, concerns, and other feedback. Direct inquiries and complaints to appropriate staff/leadership when unable to resolve independently. Act proactively to prevent complaints by taking action or speaking with staff/leadership when a problem is developing. Offer suggestions to resolve potential complaints. Keep complaint information confidential.
Contribute to a Stress-Free and Caring Environment
Recognize signs of persons experiencing stress or personal trauma and take appropriate action. Utilize service recovery activities as applicable. Display a caring and courteous attitude and represent the hospital in a positive manner 100% of the time. Resolve conflict and maintain an I CARE approach.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Associates Degree preferred
- 2 years customer service experience, including at least 1 of those years in a hospital or medical setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to deal effectively with the public, staff, and volunteers. Presents a caring and empathetic disposition. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required

Pay Range:
Pay Range: $18.34 - $24.77 Hourly
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
