Job Summary:The Behavioral Support Specialist will play a critical role in supporting students with emotional and behavioral challenges. This position requires a strong understanding of therapeutic crisis intervention techniques, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively with our team to provide a safe and supportive environment for our students.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage student behavior in a way that promotes a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Provide timely and effective feedback to teachers and support staff on student behavior and expectations.
- Employ approved crisis prevention and intervention techniques to de-escalate conflicts and promote positive behavior.
- Document all incidents and interventions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborate with the support and response team to ensure campus safety and well-being.
- Develop and implement individualized behavior plans to support student success.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to support staff on behavior management techniques.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in therapeutic crisis intervention and behavior management.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., psychology, education, social work).
- Relevant experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges.
- TCI Trainer Certification or commitment to obtain.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and crisis management skills.
