Job Summary:

The Behavioral Support Specialist will play a critical role in supporting students with emotional and behavioral challenges. This position requires a strong understanding of therapeutic crisis intervention techniques, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively with our team to provide a safe and supportive environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage student behavior in a way that promotes a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Provide timely and effective feedback to teachers and support staff on student behavior and expectations.
  • Employ approved crisis prevention and intervention techniques to de-escalate conflicts and promote positive behavior.
  • Document all incidents and interventions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate with the support and response team to ensure campus safety and well-being.
  • Develop and implement individualized behavior plans to support student success.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to support staff on behavior management techniques.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in therapeutic crisis intervention and behavior management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., psychology, education, social work).
  • Relevant experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • TCI Trainer Certification or commitment to obtain.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and crisis management skills.
