Job Summary

ALOFT AeroArchitects is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Systems Manager to join our team. As a key member of our aviation operations team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the mechanical systems personnel and resources to accomplish aircraft maintenance, modifications, interior completions, and AFS installation activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the mechanical systems team to ensure the execution of strategic goals and objectives.
  • Ensure that maintenance and modification activities are carried out in compliance with regulatory requirements, company procedures, and established work schedules.
  • Coordinate with management and external contacts, including customers, suppliers, and vendors, to ensure productive activities and effective communication.
  • Monitor and manage departmental manpower allocation, productivity, utilization, and efficiency, and plan and forecast for manpower needs.
  • Manage the departmental procurement process, including PO requests and parts requests, to ensure all required resources, materials, and tooling are identified and available for each job in advance.
  • Demonstrate mastery of ALOFT process standards, engineering drawings, and data, and train assigned staff in the use of standard data sets.
  • Set performance goals and expectations for the department, monitor individual performance, and complete performance reviews.
  • Develop assigned workforce, ensure personnel training requirements are complied with in a timely manner, and improve training where practical to upgrade skills of existing personnel.
  • Communicate, promote, and enforce all Company policies and standards, and champion best practices.
  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as hiring, promotion, transfers, terminations, or disciplinary actions.
  • Provide technical and non-technical guidance, direction, coaching, and leadership to assigned staff.
  • Hold regular staff meetings with subordinates, communicating departmental, production, and company objectives.
  • Prepare the department for vendor and regulatory audits by ensuring a compliance culture, and manage department non-conformances with immediate containment, root cause analysis, and effective corrective actions.
  • Establish and maintain a safe working environment and safe working practices that meet applicable regulatory, professional, and company standards.
  • Assure safety procedures are always observed, and any extraordinary procedures involving safety issues are coordinated with the appropriate personnel before accomplishment.
  • Develop assigned workforce, ensure personnel training requirements are complied with in a timely manner, and improve training where practical to upgrade skills of existing personnel.
  • Plan, prepare, and accomplish departmental budget objectives.
  • Review performance data to monitor and measure productivity, and prepare and present reports.
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert, provide input during the bidding and proposal processes for maintenance, interior, and other modification projects, and based on historical data, prepare bid data to include manpower (hours), material resources, and other indirect costs.
  • Responsible for administrative duties, including attendance, performance evaluations, incident reports, accident reports, etc.
  • Maintain and record accurate time accounting records in CIMA, and verify subordinates' reporting.
  • Complete initial and recurrent training requirements in a timely manner.
