Position Summary:
The Service Operations Leader is accountable for overseeing all functions within the Service Operations Department across designated locations. As a senior-level manager, this role partners with Sales, Business Office, and Purchasing teams to ensure an outstanding experience for both associates and customers, in line with CarMax's core values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage teams and processes related to vehicle servicing and production.
- Analyze reports and monitor trends to pinpoint business improvement opportunities.
- Exhibit financial stewardship through effective P&L oversight.
- Identify waste reduction opportunities and implement process enhancements that add value to the customer and associate experience.
- Conduct interviews, onboarding, training, and promotions to bolster Service Operations and support organizational growth.
- Contribute as a member of the senior management team, collaborating to establish store strategies while providing vision, direction, and motivation to the team.
- Champion and execute both company-wide and store-specific initiatives for consistent operational execution.
- Address and resolve issues raised by customers and associates.
- Facilitate and engage in meetings and conference calls.
- Focus on associate development and growth.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess the ability to:
- Read, interpret, and accurately transcribe data to maintain precise records.
- Complete training provided by CarMax in all aspects of Inventory, Cosmetic, and Production processes.
- Effectively manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with customers and associates across various departments.
- Make informed decisions regarding critical business matters and identify opportunities for improvement.
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of managerial experience, preferably in retail management.
- A Bachelor's Degree is advantageous.
- Intermediate proficiency in computer skills is required.
Competencies:
This position aligns with the CarMax Senior Manager Competencies.
Working Conditions:
- May involve prolonged periods of walking or standing.
- Work environment may include both indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to noise and varying weather conditions.
- Flexible scheduling is required, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts.
- Occasional travel may be necessary for meetings, training, and special projects.
- Willingness to work at multiple locations or relocate as needed.
- Adherence to CarMax dress code is expected at all times while on duty.
