Position: Machinist – Vertical Boring Mill, Lathe, Mill
Reports To: Machine Shop Supervisor
This is a shop-only opportunity. There is no travel and no per diem.
Basic Function:
Under the supervision of the Machine Shop Supervisor, the machinist is responsible for drilling flanges, tube sheets, and baffles utilized in the fabrication and/or repair of shell and tube sheet exchangers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and set up jobs for drilling operations.
- Maintain a log of time allocated to various tasks.
- Operate manual vertical boring mills, lathe drill presses, and milling machines.
- Create ring grooves and ream holes as necessary.
- Verify hole dimensions as required.
- Sharpen drill bits, manage shavings, and refill coolant tanks as needed.
- Execute assigned tasks safely, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Conduct internal quality control of drilling processes and maintain accurate documentation.
- Set up and execute jobs according to established shop procedures.
- Assist in the Tool Room and Shipping & Receiving as required, including related record-keeping.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent; or relevant experience; understanding of machining practices.
- Experience: Background in a job shop environment.
- 1-3 years of experience with Fanuc controls.
- Experience with VMC (vertical machining center) or bridge mills is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with raw materials, including knowledge of stainless steel, carbon, duplex, etc., is advantageous.
- Ability to set up and construct necessary machine tooling to complete tasks.
- Proficient in using machinist scales.
- Skills: Must possess reading and writing proficiency in English; demonstrated basic math skills; ability to read and interpret measuring devices and technical drawings; capable of converting fractions to decimals and reading machinist scales.
- Required Tools: Steel tape, center punch, hammer, 12" scale, 0-1 micrometer, 6" dividers, square and center head, 12" adjustable wrench, telescoping gauges, hex key wrenches, trammel points, toolbox.
- Optional Tools: Micrometers (0-1 & 1-2), inside micrometers up to 6", 24"-36" scale.
