The University of Kansas seeks a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Laboratory Director to support faculty members in all mechanical engineering laboratories. As a key member of the department, you will collaborate with staff to manage laboratory resources, coordinate undergraduate mechanical engineering lab activities, and provide technical assistance to students and faculty.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Laboratory Management: Manage departmental technical laboratory staff and teaching laboratory resources under the supervision of the Department Chair.\
  • Teaching Support: Assist faculty members with teaching of laboratory courses in mechanical engineering, including setting up and dismantling hardware for required and elective courses.\
  • Student Research Support: Assist student researchers in troubleshooting equipment in research laboratories under the direction of the laboratory principal investigators.\
  • Faculty Support: Collaborate with faculty members and departmental staff in setting up, maintaining, and renovating departmental laboratory spaces.\\/ul\**Required Qualifications:**\

A Master's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field is required, along with 3 years of relevant experience directly related to the job description. Strong programming skills, particularly in MATLAB and C++, are also essential. Experience in data collection and analysis, as well as specifying and using instrumentation involving mechanical systems, electro-mechanical systems, and/or thermal-mechanical systems, are necessary for this role.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

\

A Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field, along with 3 years of relevant experience, is preferred. Additional qualifications include experience in a research environment, managing employees, and using additive manufacturing hardware and software.
